On the morning of May 6, 2022 local time, Mr. Mattia Kasaija, Minister of finance, planning and economic development of Uganda, accompanied by Mr. Hertz Kimmi Alinda, executive director of the Uganda Free Zone Authority, and a delegation of more than 20 people made a special trip to Wagagai mining company, which was specially arranged by Minister Kasaija to make up for his failure to attend the awarding ceremony of the company's free zone in February. Mr. Tan Jiuchang, general manager of the group, led general manager Liu Hui and other main leaders of Wagagai company to receive warmly, and organized local employees to welcome.

During the visit, General manager Mr. Tan accompanied and explained in person. Along the way, Minister Kasaija highly appreciated the infrastructure, engineering equipment, production process and development planning of Wagagai company.

In the speech, Mr. Alinda, executive director of Uganda Free Zone Authority, reiterated the purpose and significance of establishing a Free Zone in Wagagai company, and said that the Free Zone authority would fully provide relevant services.

In his speech, Mr. Kasaija said that Wagagai gold mine project is a popular project, which will create employment opportunities, pay taxes and transfer technology to Ugandans. It will not only make a significant contribution to the economic development of Busia region, but also make a significant contribution to the economic transformation of Uganda. The minister promised that the government would support the smooth operation of Wagagai Free Zone and asked the leaders of the Free Zone authority to ensure the successful development and timely operation of Wagagai project.

During the discussion, the two sides held discussions on work visa preference, income tax reduction and exemption of technical talents and other matters. At noon, the two sides had lunch, which led to the successful conclusion of the visit in a happy atmosphere.
